Ghibli Short Short - The Sky-Colored Seed

Aw, heck, since we're on a roll tonight. Sore Iro no Tane ("The Sky-Colored Seed"), animated and directed by Yoshifumi Kondo; and Nandarou ("What is it?"), animated and directed by Miyazaki. These are the first shorts to play on the Short Short DVD. I've always enjoyed this one. Pull it out the next time someone complains about all those doggone bug-eyed anime characters.

Wow! This is incredible! Miyazaki animated this whole thing? What a master... Thanks for posting this.

Well, no. Let me clarify things a bit. The Sky-Colored Seed, the minute-long story about the growing house, was animated and directed by Kondo. The short segments with the green mouse (What is it?), those were animated by Miyazaki. You'll also notice, of course, that it's the same mouse that appears at the start of Porco Rosso.

Perhaps I should've been more clear on that point.

Often I think that has been the misconception many have had about this piece, and often get Miyazaki mixed up as having done that other part (not to mention that odd CGI bit at the end). I remember this fondly from the old fansubbing days on tape.

That "What is it?" mouse is also the logo for Nippon Television Network.
